America is gearing up to celebrate the 4th of July ~ a holiday filled with barbecues, family, friends, and of course, fireworks! So where are some of the country’s best fireworks? This Yahoo! Article lists eleven cities that light up the sky with a bang. Our Luminati will be hitting three of this list’s locations with their cameras ready, from the City of San Francisco Fireworks Extravaganza that kicks off at 9:30 pm, and Chicago’s show over Lake Michigan from Navy Pier,to New York City’s Macy’s Ignite the Night Extravaganza. New York may be the “expert’s choice for biggest-and-bestshow in the nation,” but no matter where you are, go out and enjoy the festivities!
Interestingly, the day’s festivities may be more expensive than you think. According to a 2010 Forbes article, consumers spend over $600 million on fireworks and $2 billion on cookouts. That includes spending roughly $92 million on chips, $60.3 million on dip, $193.6 million on hamburger patties, $104.7 million on hot dogs, and $70.4 million on buns. It also generates $341.4 million on beer and $107.7 million in popsicle revenues.
